(3E) Multiple connections from same LAN

By on March 23, 2009 11:37:42 AM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

I know issues have already been reported by people with the latest Demigod update, but I wanted to throw my two cents in as well.

I typically connect with 2-3 other friends from the same LAN connection.  Since Beta3 first released, we only very, very rarely had any kind of issues connecting but as of the last update, we are simply unable to get a single game going.  One person typically will join the game fine, but by the time the next person joins, they usually end up disconnecting the previous user connected... they suddenly just time out.

Are there any useful log files or anything of the like that I can send in?

I think they will likely want debug.err file.  It's in My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod.  Not sure though, you should ask Cari on irc.

Aloso you may wish to try to set up different ports for each user in impulsereactoroption.exe.  Then portforward each user's ports to their computer.  My understanding is this will be very helpful for those of you in this situation (multiple people behind 1 router).

You do need to set each machine to use different ports if you're all on the same router.

Sorry to argue here but it depends. if they are all playing in Lan or if they are trying to join an internet game.

For internet play with your 2+ computers.

If your not using port fowarding and your router seem to accept the convientional NAT transversal , then indeed you do not need to set different port.

BUT if you set port fowarding for all the machine, you MUST set them on different port with ImpulseReactorOptions.exe in the Demigod folder.

You cant foward all machine on the same port range 6112 to 6132

Machine 1 can be : 6112->6132

Machine 2 can be 6133->6153

Machine 3 can be 6154->6174

And so on.

Must be fowarded on the router.
