Elemental site format: Please bring back the old color scheme

I like it better, actually. Maybe it's because I had been using the Sins forums for a while before I started coming to the Elemental ones (the Sins ones are white on black). I wasn't much of a fan of the old color.

Use RED, It's far easier to see...like Blood.

I appreciate the value of a refit as part of getting ready for release, but the change to a black background for the forums is awful, at least for readability.

The new home page looks sharper and the black is OK there because it isn't a big reading thing. But please, please, please tweak this tweak so we don't have to read white on black forum threads for the game's life cycle.

Unfortunately, in order to keep consistency with the site, the design will not be changing in the near future. If it is that big of a problem there are ways to modify designs to your liking using addons through your browser. I know that isn't the greatest solution but since we can't do it, you still have the option of doing something

But please, for Elune's sake, at least change the grey text on black background. My head's hurting reading only this thread.

Edit: ctrl+f5 solved the grey text issue. But still... black background? I thought design like that was so 90ies.

But a yellowish tint does, and is miles better than gray. Gray on black strains the eyes and is not fun in the slightest to read bigger posts with.

Hey, at least the text isn't white (quotes doesn't count). Or bright red.

That's worse, Wintersong. Too much contrast is bad too. Switching from black to the old background every other post is like reading green text on a red background

I'm only giving some ideas. I'd stick to default style except for special cases. No need to make any eyes to bleed... unnecessarily.

Although the colours theme doesn't convince me, the forum posts seem more readable than those from Sins or GalCiv II. That's quite something.

Edit: bad luck, Raven. No red seems "cool" enough for this forum.

Sigh. I guess I really shouldn't be spending so much time on the boards anyway. It's not like I cared about Elemental very much or anything...

Here's hoping that the folks behind this particular design decision get really addicted to reading the boards. Maybe that will hasten the demise of this anti-reading color scheme.

This really should be it's own thread but I can't create one. The Elemental War of Magic title is sitting over all the buttons and at the top of the screen and they are mostly unclickable for me. Logining in is a real pain so I'm lucky I'm able to post at all. I see all kinds of posts about the color but nothing about this issue which is a much more immediate problem for me.

Actually I don't have any issues with the color, I find it easy to read and think the black background looks really nice.

Same here edpfister. Although I do think the contrast is a bit much at times, but I can deal with it.

I actually like the darker design. It's a matter of preference. A mostly dark screen with light text is a lot less straining on my eyes, especially at night, than a light page with dark text. So I like it.

What do you mean it doesn't match the Theme? The whole site is black!!! Looks like it matches to me

What's MORE IMPORTANT thn color is the fact that I STILL can't make new posts, or access "My Replies" or "My Posts" or anything at the top of the page because of the Big Glowing Elemental Logo at the top. I can see it being on the main page but having it here on the forums is making it so I can't access anything. I'm running I.E. 8.

Bah....you're just too full of "Goodness" to enjoy the colors of blood and darkness.

Note: It helps if you use Bright Red instead of Dark Red, bolding is nice too. Honestly, I'm really digging this new look (minus that dumb logo getting in the way)

I'd start a new thread titled "Please KEEP The Current Color Scheme" but I can't access the "Create New Post" button. I really really like the new background.

IE 7 issue apparently. Didn't try IE 8 so not sure if it has the same problem.

This is really the worst forum color scheme I've seen in a while. Sorry, but its hard to read, looks a bit juvenile (Black and red), and is nowhere near as friendly in general on the eyes as the old one.

Its also very very easy for people to see that its not a work related site now

Can we at least get an option?

And why is the Elemental:_ War of Magic logo right in the middle of the screen on top of everything all the time?

And there is nothing wrong with that - it would just be nice to at least have an option to not having to look at what I think is a truly horrible and back to the 90's design.

It's in IE8 as well, Winter. I think it's a IE thing no matter what version really. I don't use Firefox or any other browser, so I hope they get it fixed soon because it makes surfing the forums nie impossible without a lot of extra clicks, and I can't start a new thread at all nor can I update the ideas list because the "Edit" button is un-reachable on my post.

As a fellow Web/Graphic designer, I'd like to commend your designer on a cracking job. Its suitably dark and mysterious, and create's the right atmos. Good job!
