Round 2: Hoping for Stardock/GPG on Kings and Castles

By on February 16, 2010 10:35:20 PM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

I really think these two could work miracles together the way GPG is approaching development this time since GPG doesn't have a publisher yet.

Just thinking it would be cool.

Cool as it may be, I dont think that GPG will be too eager to work this Stardock considering how Demigod worked out.

But Demigod really wasn't Stardock's or GPG's fault. It really didn't even turn out too bad, either. I think there's still a very good chance they will partner up on something in the future, although whether it's going to be K&C remains to be seen. Plus Kings and Castles is basically going to be the real time version of Elemental: War of Magic, so they could just combine resources.

Kings and Castles sounds so much like a Stardock game.

Are you implying that Demigod's problems are somehow Stardock - the publisher's - fault?  I suppose Space Siege was Sega's fault too and SupCom's problems were THQ's fault ad nauseum.

I don't (or hope) that was not what he was implying.

We have very good relations with GPG. I don't think anyone at GPG would ever characterize our involvement in Demigod as anything other than life saving.

As for Kings and Castles, it's too early to say on that. You're looking at a game that is quite a ways out. It will be cool to see how it evolves.

I just think GPG/Stardock make for a real good combination. Chris Taylor's aim on communication through development is very Stardockian. GPG games are usually good, Stardock being involved increases appeal.

Anyone on the outside looking in at Demigod would get the impression that the Stardock/GPG team up was a mess, but in reality it was quite impressive.  And I can't imagine another publisher providing as much support and involvement as Stardock did.  At least that was the impression I got as a beta tester.

Demigod's problems were due to design decisions that in hindsight proved to be a mistake.  Mistakes both companys have hopefully learned from.

I think another GPG/Stardock teamup would be great though there are a lot of buisness decisions that go beyond "Lets work with that Frogboy guy again" that are outside the scope of my understanding.

Follow the example and start the website for the RPG. It's never too soon!!!!

Yea Stardock and GPG do work well together.  Just make sure you have a multiplayer system BEFORE release this time lol.

Well I'd hope that the Reactor system is online and has the kinks worked out before K&C starts working on its multiplayer component.

I can say emphatically that any future titles we publish will require the developers take care of their own MP (either made themselves or licensed).

Lol. Learning from past experiences FTW. I thought the Stardock team liked working 80 hour weeks though? =P
