How to verify your shipping address...

Even though Demigod’s release is still a ways away, we have already begun the preparations for shipping out the many retail boxes that will have been preordered.  The largest (and most tedious) part of this is making sure that everyone’s shipping addresses are correct.

We began taking Demigod preorders in April 2008, so if you have moved since then, you will need to update your shipping address.  Please visit the following page in the Impulse community to view what we have on file for you and make changes if necessary:

http://www.impulsedriven.net/dashboard/account

You will want to be logged in under the account that contains your Demigod serial number, which should be the same account you are using to log in to play games online.

Please note that the “State” field must be limited to two characters; for example, “MI” for Michigan.  If you live outside of the United States and cannot abbreviate your area/province, simply put it in the “City” field instead and shift your city name into the second “Your Address” field.  It is acceptable to do some creative shifting around to get longer addresses to fit.

Even if you haven’t moved, it would be a good idea to verify what we have on file for you, just to be safe, especially if you have asked us to update your email address or merge your records recently.

If you have any trouble updating your shipping address or have questions, please send an email to [email protected] and we will be glad to help.

The reason behind getting all of the shipping addresses straightened out so early is because of a personal goal.  With past releases, customers who preordered games from us directly did not get their orders as fast as I would have liked.  My goal is to have preorders shipped out prior to the release date so you can receive them as close to release as possible.  Please keep in mind that this is a goal, not a guarantee, but I will do what I can to achieve it.  It depends on how far before the release the retail boxes are produced and how many preorders will need to be shipped out.  Any information that I can provide about this in the future will be posted to this thread.

Thanks for reading!

EDIT:  If you have not yet verified your shipping address, today (April 6) is the last day to do so!  Please follow the instructions above.  Edit now or forever hold your peace.

Quoting radiobabylon,
all things i both dont know about or how to get, and honestly dont much care about. id rather have the five bucks in my pocket. but either way, it settles in my mind any question i had about pre-ordering elemental or any other stardock product in the future.

I assume you actually enjoy these games. If you do I see little logic in depriving not only yourself of the experience but also the developer of early success/funds for continued activity. And they are offering hard physical copy for the cost of shipping, plus some extras which, correct, we may or may not find either to our liking or necessarily useful. Sounds like a 'bonus' scenario to me, not a screwjob.

1) its only a bonus if i actually wanted those things, which i dont and

2) even IF i wanted those things, its the principle of the thing. i paid $45. then they lower the price to $40. and keep my $5. TWICE. how is this not dishonest? how is this NOT a screwjob? if they said "pre-order with beta access is $45. DD will be $40. the extra $5 is for beta access." then id be ok with it. i also probably wouldnt pre-order it, access to the beta isnt worth $5 to me. id even be ok with it if they stated on the preorder that the price may change and the difference is non-refundable. but they didnt. what they DID was charge me $5 more, and just pocketed it. TWICE.

if youre ok with that, fine, some people have different tolerance levels for this kind of thing. personally, id stop doing business with a company over a nickle. if you cant trust someone with a nickle, you cant trust them with a damn thing.

i give up at this point, im done talking about it, theres no point. i got f'ed out of $10 and theres nothing i can do about it. clearly stardock thinks this is ok, since its a pattern of behavior, a business practice for them at this point.  you cant shame someone into doing the right thing when theyre convinced theyve done nothing wrong, as stardock obviously does. and i was stupid enough to let them do it to me twice. you can bet your ass there wont be a third time.

When we've made prerelease cost corrections in the past (there were a couple with Sins, IIRC), as far as I remember the change was resolved in favor of anyone who had ordered prior to the change. If the cost went down, previous preorders were credited the difference; if the cost went up, they kept the original lower price that they ordered at.

Regretfully I can't say with certainty what our plan is in this case (especially as the site here still lists the old price, so at this hour on a weekend I have no way to see if the lower price on Impulse is intentional or mistaken). If you'd like to confirm what will happen, please contact [email protected] for further information.

i can tell you i absolutely positively DID NOT get my $5 back on sins.

they told me to do the same thing about a month before sins came out. and im sure ill get the same answer: "sorry, we're stiffing you five bucks. but here, have a desktop theme you wont use as a consolation prize."

If you ordered the download only of Sins, it would not have affected you. There were no direct price drops until quite a while after release, and retail pricing is independent of direct pricing.

If I remember accurately, the specifics of the preorder changes with Sins were that the price of the game itself went *up* shortly before release, so those who had ordered prior (even if not yet charged) kept the lower price they ordered at.

For those who had ordered boxes though, our initial shipping estimates based on production samples were off (the final box came out lighter than early information let us to expect) and anyone who had ordered at the higher shipping cost paid the new reduced cost instead (and refunded the difference if they'd already been charged).

This is a very confusing thread.  Didn't the shipping price on Sins go up later, and not down?  I got a boxed set for $50 if I remember right, the digital download I initially ordered was $45 and I added the physical copy when the collectors edition or whatever was announced.  Then the shipping cost ended up doubled by release for people that hadn't already ordered.  What went down?

IIRC shipping went up when we first got the details from the production samples, but it later went back down some when those early details proved to be on the high side.

Early download preorders were $40; the $45 price wasn't set until the last beta or thereabouts.

Sidetracking aside, as I said, contact sales with your concerns. I'll confirm Monday morning which price is correct.

Can't wait to upgrade to the boxed edition.

One question though, the first picture Mr. Wardell showed us of the Rook minature showed it all white. Will the final version have color?

youre mistaken. the digital download only version of sins on the day the game was released was $5 less than i paid. the boxed copy was $45 + s/h. we had the option to pay s/h and get the box if we wanted it. if we didnt (and i didnt) then you just kept the $5. thats how it went down.

We didn't drop our direct price until some time after many retailers had cut shelf prices (something a fair number of people commented on), as they don't like us directly competing with them. Thus we offer the CE extras to make up for the price difference. Launch SKUs and pricing were described in detail in a stickied announcement Brad posted two days after your complaint.

Downloadable versions of CE content were made available on the same page as the pre-1.1 updates, and the upgrade-to-box option is here.

As you said yourself at the time of your previous complaint (but seem to be mixing up now), the $39.95 price you saw was the retail standard edition price offered in stores. Our direct price remained the same as you paid. It's unfortunate that you don't feel the CE extras are of any value, but the direct price was not cut until months after release.

The price change is correct; the site here will be updated shortly.

We are currently working out how to best compensate those who preordered at $45, and should have an announcement on the matter as soon as we have a plan finalized.

You won't get a serial to register until you are charged at release. For now, the most you'll have is a temporary hold and an order number.

You pre-ordered too late for the beta. The beta closed a few weeks ago.

The beta is closed.

The email you got  tells it all:

"Thank you for your order. No charge has been posted against your credit card at this time. Your order contained a pre-order item and has been accepted. You will be notified via email when the product(s) are available and have been processed. At that time, your credit card will be charged. Please print this page for your records. For questions regarding your pre-order, please contact [email protected] and include your Order number located below."

So you will get a message with serial number, just before that the credit card will be charged. As soon as you got the message with serial you can enter it in Impulse if it is not already done automaticly.

Demigod is just over two weeks from release and it's time to look at those addresses again.  If you have not yet done so, please reread my original post and check your address to make sure your retail box gets shipped correctly.

I am still working on getting the boxes shipped out early, at this point I do not know if it will be possible as I had hoped, but we'll see what I can do.
