[Sticky this please] How to post a bug report + DxDiag

By on September 7, 2008 11:04:23 PM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

I've seen far too many system specific bug reports without the dxdiag and bug reports with the whole dxdiag copy + pasted on.

What to bring with you to your bug report (not exhaustive).

Description of the bug: Please use adjectives.

Game time that the bug occured: How long have you been playing until you encountered the bug?

How to reproduce this bug: If you can, give directions on how to make the bug happen again.

Truncated DxDiag: We really don't need to see what .dlls you have for your mouse driver.

How to post a DxDiag

1) Hold windows key and "R" to bring up the Run dialog

2) Type in "dxdiag" without quotes into the text box and click ok or enter

3) In the DxDiag window that appears, click the "Save all information" button and save the DxDiag.txt some where.

4) Open the DxDiag.txt and highlight from the top to the end of the "Driver Date/Size" line. No more, no less unless it is requested.

5) Paste it here, perferably using a smaller font than normal.

Nice post! And also please put [BUG] or [PERFORMANCE] or [SUGGESTION] or else in the title to help categorize your report

And read this first:

We really have enough bugs to go around, we don't need the same ones again on different threads. It makes the fixing process much faster.

I don't know if this forum has it, but isn't there a way, like some kind of code or something, that puts the all the dxdiag text in its own separate box?  It basically is a fixed size box with scroll bars on the side so that no matter how much text you have, it's always the same size.
