Preordered a Demigod retail box? Read on!

How to verify your shipping address...

Even though Demigod’s release is still a ways away, we have already begun the preparations for shipping out the many retail boxes that will have been preordered.  The largest (and most tedious) part of this is making sure that everyone’s shipping addresses are correct.

We began taking Demigod preorders in April 2008, so if you have moved since then, you will need to update your shipping address.  Please visit the following page in the Impulse community to view what we have on file for you and make changes if necessary:

http://www.impulsedriven.net/dashboard/account

You will want to be logged in under the account that contains your Demigod serial number, which should be the same account you are using to log in to play games online.

Please note that the “State” field must be limited to two characters; for example, “MI” for Michigan.  If you live outside of the United States and cannot abbreviate your area/province, simply put it in the “City” field instead and shift your city name into the second “Your Address” field.  It is acceptable to do some creative shifting around to get longer addresses to fit.

Even if you haven’t moved, it would be a good idea to verify what we have on file for you, just to be safe, especially if you have asked us to update your email address or merge your records recently.

If you have any trouble updating your shipping address or have questions, please send an email to [email protected] and we will be glad to help.

The reason behind getting all of the shipping addresses straightened out so early is because of a personal goal.  With past releases, customers who preordered games from us directly did not get their orders as fast as I would have liked.  My goal is to have preorders shipped out prior to the release date so you can receive them as close to release as possible.  Please keep in mind that this is a goal, not a guarantee, but I will do what I can to achieve it.  It depends on how far before the release the retail boxes are produced and how many preorders will need to be shipped out.  Any information that I can provide about this in the future will be posted to this thread.

Thanks for reading!

EDIT:  If you have not yet verified your shipping address, today (April 6) is the last day to do so!  Please follow the instructions above.  Edit now or forever hold your peace.

Quoting Wagnard,

It will be possible after launch, they should offer an "upgrade" item in the store, basically you pay s&h and they ship you the box. For Sins it was after launch and I expect it will be the same for Demigod.

From one of the journal posts:

Quoting Frogboy,
Now, before anyone asks, anyone who purchases the digital version of the Collector's Edition can get the boxed edition sent to them for the $5 difference and shipping and handling but wait until we put up a page for it which won't be until March so don't worry.

Ooh, there's a collector's edition too?  I preordered the retail box, is it possible to change that into the collector's version?  Or is it one already?

The pre-order retail box is automatically the collector's edition, as far as I know.

All stardock pre-orders are collector's edition, straight from the frog himself.

How about european release? Is it true that Atari is launching the game in Europe and the announced release date (March 27) is correct? Living in Europe, am I getting the game on March 27 or in the official release date?

I have a question, i used my old points from the previous system to buy Demigod, is there any way for me to upgrade to a boxed version (prefearibly the collectors edition) (yes, i know it probably cost me some extra, no problem)

We'll probably offer an upgrade option after release as we have in the past. It'll most likely cost $5+S/H.

what if we dont want the box? do we get the extra $5 (i paid $45, vs $40 for everyone else) back? im guessing not. i didnt get it back for sins either. which i guess would put me on the "shame on me" side of the "screw me once, shame on you..." equation

Well for Sins it was still the CE, and you got the music and stuff as downloads rather than in the box. For Demigod? I dunno, the collector's has a statuette which is rather hard to have as a download

CE for SINS and Demigod also have the my colors theme.  There are supposed to be more goodies but we don't know what yet.

Actually, the non-preorder price is $49.99 so you got $5 off. It's $39.99 in stores, but SD is small and doesn't want to piss off retailers so they can't undercut, so instead they make a CE that's (usually) exclusive to direct orders. For both Sins and Demigod, the original preorder price was $5 cheaper than the final direct order price.

Your argument is nonsensical, though. If you buy something at a store and the price drops at some point in the future, do you go and demand money back?

Not a perfect analogy since it actually increased in this case (for what you paid for, anyway) and the cheaper one is non-CE. But sure, if you don't care about CE goodies or the betas you should just wait until it's in stores.

so what youre telling me is, to buy demigod through stardock for digital download only on release day, the price is going to be $50? perhaps so (my crystal ball is broken) but i really doubt it.

Your argument is nonsensical, though. If you buy something at a store and the price drops at some point in the future, do you go and demand money back?

actually... yes. and i frequently DO get the difference refunded to me, depending upon the time thats passed since purchase. but in general, youd be hard pressed to find a retail store that WOULDNT refund the difference within 30 days, and some as much as 90, if youre willing to pester your way up the chain to upper management.

which is actually irrelevant, because your analogy is flawed: purchasing a finished good (or in the case of software, a released retail product) is not the same as pre-ordering software, even IF said pre-order provides early access to unfinished product. i wont make the case that stardock should be paying its beta testers for QA on pre-release code, because thats unfair, people beta test because they WANT to, and shouldnt expect renumeration for it... but they absolutely positively shouldnt expect to pay MORE for it, either.

which i now realize, and which i will do in the future. stardock can find some other sucker to fund their development. a pdf, a desktop theme i wouldnt use if you paid me to, and some mp3s arent worth $5. they arent worth $1. your perspective may be different, but from where im standing, its a screwjob no matter how you slice it.
