B.B. King – King of the Blues, gone at 89

King passed away peacefully at home in Las Vegas. He was 89…

Two time inductee to Halls of Fame - Blues and Rock and Roll.

15 Grammies...including lifetime achievement award...and more...along, long list.

The legendary B.B. King is without a doubt the single most important electric guitarist of the last half century. 

Incredible blues guitar…played with the best. Still listen to my “Riding With The Blues” album with Eric Clapton.

Want a crazy stat? In 1956, he played 342 one night stands.

He’d been very sickly over the past year or so.

Ah well, it comes for us all.

I made it to B.B. King's nightclub in NY in 2009... one of the bigger moments on the trip....[saw Steeleye Span, BTW] ....

B B was the support act for the U2 Lovetown Tour following the release of Rattle & Hum which I went to in Oct '89 at the Melbourne Tennis Centre... was a real treat to see him there....

 

RIP BB King... a good innings with a lifetime of achievements and a peaceful end by the sound of it...   doesn't get better than that...

Yeah, being a blues fan from way back and loving electic guitar ever-so-much, I am really into BB King's music and am saddened at his passing.

I never saw him live in concert, and regret that I never did, but I have many of his albums and will cherish them always.

RIP BB, may your blues be heard throughtout heaven and forever more.

We've lost a lot of creative legends over the last few years. At least BB got to live a long life and wasn't taken before his time like so many others. His legacy will live on forever though. Even after the Earth is nothing more than a burned out rock toasted bare by the sun, his music will still be travelling on radio waves broadcast outward from our planet. Provided they never dissipate then he and his music will truly be immortal no matter how history plays out here on Earth in the future.

Agreed, what a legend and a humble soul. I agree with Raven. A kinder, gentle soul while being great and humble probably would never exist in this meat market in music today.
