Very specific hardware question re: asus P8Z77-V Pro

I've been looking over the net and haven't found an answer for this one yet.  Figured I'd take a shot here.

So, I picked up an ivy bridge cpu and the asus P8Z77-V Pro motherboard.  I also picked up a nice SSD.  Anyway, the motherboard has the intel sata 6 interface and an additional sata 6 interface via the ASMedia® PCIe SATA controller .

Should I be using the intel sata 6 interface or the asmedia one for best performance?  I'm not running a raid setup here - just a single SSD.  Any insight would be SUPER appreciated. Hoping I don't get into a situation where I load up my harddrive and have to reinstall due to a misstep.  Thanks!

I would always use the intel one on the motherboard myself.

Any reasoning?  I mean, they threw in the extra sata controller for a reason, I'd think.  Pretty sure I read in the manual that this 2nd controller can only run hard drives as well.  Makes me think there might be a logical reason to use the extra controller.  Of course, that could be rubbish...

it appears the ASMedia functions as s controller for future PCI-e  add-on SATA III ports. or support for boards that do not support 6GBs natively. I could, of course, be wrong.

To run more SATA III drives simultaneously. Most performance boards have a secondary controller just for that purpose; the chipset controller doesn't support many drives alone.
