Thunderbird Issues

By on August 27, 2011 9:59:26 AM from WinCustomize Forums WinCustomize Forums

I'm having issues with Thunderbird in WIndows 7. I'm not sure if it's Windowblinds or Windows, but it just doesn't want to skin right. Different areas flash or highlight poorly and the whole thing seems buggy. Updated to latest version and still bad. I have it running on Vista and it's stable. Anyone else running into this?

I seem to remember there being a recent thread about Thunderbird having issues with Windowblinds, not sure if this was it but maybe it will help http://forums.stardock.com/410282

I'm using Win 7 32bit and I have the same problems with all UIS2 skins. Parts of Thunderbird 6 are transparent or flashing, not being able to scroll through emails. I think, WindowBlinds is the problem. I keep trying one or the other skin, for example the great Stealth Drone, but come back again and again on Aero Colours, which makes no problems, not even with other programs. The latest beta version of  WindowBlinds fixes some problems , for example with Thunderbird 6, but in other respects a disaster. Unusable for me. I consider myself to say goodbye to WindowBlinds. I'm tired of waiting for a fully functional version year by year, too frustrating.

Quoting Starcandy,

Thanks for the tip, Starcandy, now I can scroll again. In this way I also improved the compatibility with DAZ Studio 3 and Vue 8. I just wonder why this is buried in the depths of the forum and is not inserted into the program.

The fix in the link is not working. (Reply 2)

Basically, Thunderbird is unusable for me with the way things are right now. Experiencing everything mentioned in Reply#3. I have even set WB to complete ignore it and not skin it and still having issues that make it difficult to navigate or use Thunderbird at all.

Really hope you fix this VERY soon.

The issues with Thunderbird not showing the selection cursor etc sometimes are nothing to do with WindowBlinds.  If you have excluded it totally then WB is not skinning it and is not responsible for issues with it.

The new thunderbird is a big step backwards in my view.

It is inserted into the program.  It was in the very next beta build of WB released after that post.

What problems were you having with Vue 8 and DAZ Studio 3?

Hi Neil,

Right. The latest beta version remedied my problems with Thunderbird, but there were other problems as you know. Therefore, I have installed the latest release version again, and the aforementioned patch (This morning I read about a new beta-version on Friday, but have not seen it yet).

In DAZ Studio I could not scroll through a selection box. In VUE there were strips in the margins (and still are), and in some menus you could not read the script. Right now everything is more or less okay (one part of Thunderbird is transparent, it does not interfere much, but looks funny).

Regards

Volkmar

Pretty much what I figured.

I reverted back to 3.41 and all is well.

I am hugely disapointed with Thunderbird. I'm not sure how vunerable' 3.41 is and am considering just going to Outlook (which I detest even the thought of).

Thanks, Neil.

You think you had a Thunderbird issue?

Quit whining, you suck at it.

My only problem with Thunderbird is the brown bag.
