Nat Facilitator Issue - 8/15/2011 3pm Est - MP WORKS AGAIN!

Everyone that plays Demigod online is aware that there is currently an outage on the Demigod MP servers (anytime you host a game, you get the Nat Facilitator error).  The issue began on 8/3/2011 around 2AM EST and is still ongoing as of 12:50PM EST. 

I've chatted up a few people at SD (and sent the appropriate emails to support) and they are aware of the issue.  The issue appears to be because many of the servers that were once housed at Stardock are being moved to Gamestop facilities.  The closest thing I've got to an estimate on how long it will take to get things back up and running is "hours yet, maybe a day."  So, they are working to resolve this.  I'd just check back in from time to time and see if things are back up and running. 

Update 8/3/2011 from Island Dog:  "Just an FYI that it won't be back tonight, they are looking at sometime tomorrow."

Update 8/4/2011 from T-man:  "We are still working on getting the NAT Faciliator back online.  But due to several technical difficulties it is unlikely that we will get it back online this week.  I would estimate that we will have it working again mid next week. Our apologies for the inconvenience."

 

Update 8/15/2011 around 3PM EST:  The servers appear to be back up and the issues seem to have been resolved.

Thanks for another update and keeping us informed.  Hope all goes well with getting us back up and running.

That said, I'll be hosting some games on game ranger tonight at 7PM EST using the current version of Demigod (you do not need to download some hacked version of the game).  If anyone would like to join me, you are certainly welcome.  I'm pacov in game ranger.  If you've never used GR, its pretty simple to get a free account and get setup (less than 4 minutes and you are good to go).  Hope to catch some of you there. 

I'll post more details on how to use GR in my other thread about scheduling games.

pacov moderates as appropriate.  Anyway, I know we are all disappointed that the outage happened and will last as long as indicated.

funny story I won't have internet till next week Monday so good coincidence for me at least. 

About gameranger, you guys really think you will get games going with the few people that will make the effort and cannot even play with the regular gameranger people? Well let me know how it went.

 just played 2vs2 without lag

GR is just as easy to use as normal multiplayer - I had some success hosting "1.3 legal ver" games last night. Just try it - better than nothing.

We had several successful and fun games on game ranger in the meantime. 

edit - I do hope "normal" demigod is back up and running by wed/thurs though.  We are die hard fans and deserve a little fan service.

The 486 running windows98 that acts as NAT Facillitator has finally broken.... To get a new 400mb IDE hard drive for this may take some trolling of e-bay.

great game with 1001 bugs and worst netcode ever. No real support by gpg and in the end killed by stardock´s server movement. sad story, but that´s life.
