Robert Munch and the latest stuff

I'm pretty tired tonight, but wanted to throw up a quick post as it was on my mind. I've recently played several games with robert munch on a few accounts he knows and a few he doesn't. In 100% of these games, Robert has not acted like a jerk in the slightest. Now, many of you have encountered Robert in the past and have had negative experiences (me too). BUT - I'm a firm believer that folks that may have been a problem on 1 day, can on the next day be pretty decent folks. It happens to all of us - we have a crap day at work, we blahblahblah... and so on. Anyway, I made a few comments in a post awhile back basically saying that I'd wager it wouldn't be all that hard for Robert to take a few days off from attacking/insulting folks and it seems clear to me that he has, in fact, done exactly that. I haven't heard a single post negative comment about Robert since then and I've personally played with and against him several times since that last thread. Anyway, his current user name as of today is I_AM_BETTER_THAN_YOU. Heh - I know, doesn't sound like a guy that is all that passive, but I've found him, after a few discussions on one of my alts, to actually be a decent guy that keeps up on the forums and will certainly read this and many other posts. Anyway, if you see I_AM_BETTER_THAN_YOU join/host any games, give him a shot. He's a decent guy imo. Not to say that he won't go nuts anytime soon, but I talked to him about 3 days ago and he seemed solid to me and I wouldn't have any problems playing with him on my team.

Other stuff - had some good tests today with ai skirmish and uberfix. Things are looking really good. Uberfix is proving to be solid and the ai skirmish mod is getting better and better. I daresay that if we keep this up, tier 1 folks might enjoy adding the ai skrimish mod into the rotation.

And last, I could still use help testing uberfix/ai skirmish/favor mod. If any of you are willing to help me out, send me a pm/respond here/message me on vent and I will gladly take your help. I've spent the good part of the last 1-2 weeks focused on testing to get the existing mods into something we can hopefully get distributed in the next demigod patch.

Although, Im surprised at the amount of insincere exploiting cheapskates who still play Demigod. If their not critical stating the game or the other types of exploits, they are just being nasty. I keep coming back every few months, and not seeing an improvement. really Sad panda.

well, glad you popped in and nice to see folks generally echoing that Robert's been a pretty good fella lately. And yeah, there are still some folks doing the old stat exploit/invalid gamestating dance. The good news is that with a few games or a few quick chats here, we could likely tell you every fellow still playing that uses cheap tactics like that so you could just easily avoid them.

Not played with Robert but Doggu would have like 90% win rate if he didbn't nauze the bejeesus out of his team mates when they're not up to par or was more polite with his "advice" and not cause them to quit to save their ear drums, lol.

From some of his posts on the forum he seems decent enough.

If he didn't live in Auz with a 350 ping to Europe he'd probly have 99%.

I'm sure it can be frustrating when you are good and your team mates not so but there really is no point being uber moody about it if things aren't going to plan as this will rarely improve the situation.

I remember a game playing with Primz when I was dropping the ball somewhat as Reg and he feigned polite indignance rather than disgust and won the game on his own anyway.

I hear ya bud. I get pissy every now and then too but nothing makes me want to just throw the game more than someone constantly screaming at me. I think its always better to try to steer someone in the right direction in a respectful way (and if that doesnt work then start the FFS.......jk.)

It is a tad bit funny though when you've played with certain people that are known to be moody and you're on the opposing team and you just know that so-and-so is probably going off and annoying the hell out of his team mates when something goes wrong but then you never hear about it untill the last few minutes of game when everyone start blaming each other in All chat.

yeah - I've had issues with doggu in the past, but not really anymore. He's a fun guy to play with as long as he can stay out of that "berating mode." I have been downright terrible in the past to some of my teammates in the same way, but think I've gotten a handle on that as well for the most part. I'd wager he'd respond favorably if you kindly ask him to knock it off if he starts getting grouchy in game

Yeah, I guess we all have our moments. Mine are mostly the sarcastic remarks, probably just as bad, talking like the noob is not even there. Annoucing the footman sabaton buy in ALL chat is always my favorite. heh I can see how those can be just as bothersome to someone that is trying to learn. Ima watch my self too.

Well, you still get angry a bit, even during totally unimportant games Yes, yes, more like 'funny angry' than 'real angry', but you do. And I realize perfectly well that's after your inner filter kicks in. Like, you think: "IN1, you ******* ******* ****** son-of-a-noob, why tp there when I was a ******* walking distance from ****** ***** you?", but you type: "Better walk to me next time, okay?". And, honestly, who gives a damn about what you really think about IN1, as long as you are correct in the chat? I daresay, if everyone else could adopt Pacov's attitude, no newer players would ever get needlessly offended.

Doggu is a really decent fellow, and I like playing with/vs him. His temper is bad sometimes, that much is true, but I've seen him apologizing to ppl he offended in game, and also atoning for his sins (hehe) by taking a noob on his team and coaching him patiently. So I wouldn't put him in the same category as some serial trash-talkers.

PS: BTW, never seen him being rude to a noob. To some 900+ games guy who managed to die 5 times during first 10 minutes of the match, yes. But that's somewhat understandable, I guess.

Ya I usually don't berate ppl unless I've seen them perform better. With the ppl I play with, I will sometimes get into a bitchy mood.. sometimes they will.. best thing is to just bear with whoever is feeling grouchy and have a little tolerance. As long as it isn't 100% all the time, I don't really care, and an hour later we're back to talking nicely.

It reminds me of one curious chat I've had in one of the lobbies. A guy with, like, 30 games and 30% joins doggu's lobby (I think) and tells everyone: "I'm a noob, can I just play without be rated?". Now, it's ungrammatical, sure enough, but the guy had an obviously German nick, so... I began to rant at length about how the rating system in Demigod multiplayer works. Ah, silly me

He lets me play, and whats more doesn't abuse me. I have seen him in full swing but never copped it directly even tho i make complete noob mistakes all the time.

That said, abusive talk makes abusers ou tof other people; I've even been guilty of retaliation rage many times...ask doggu

Rich is okay, if you are willing to get behind the surface of his "you faggots" attitude. Many people don't, and I cannot blame them.

I've had a lot of issues with him over time, but I consider his debts repaid after that Orb of his that got sucked into abyss Heh, he'll know what I'm talking about. Renz too.
