Manifesto of Post 2010 MMO Production Guidelines
No, this thread is not the Manifesto itself, but more of a rally cry.
I've been thinking about it for a year now, and perhaps it's something I really should take more seriously. I've really wanted to author a Manifesto of guidelines for future MMO development teams to follow. This Manifesto includes various rules, instructions, and more - which will help to shape the future of gaming. The document will actually be legit if people, much more than just myself, provide input upon.
In order for this to actually work, people have to not only support the cause - but really take effort in trying to put it together. To get things running properly, people need to spread the word.
Let's start small; simple if you will.
Currently I started up a new email account: [email protected]
First of all I think it's important to find supporters, serious supporters who actually want to see something like this work. So I need people who can speak and offer intelligent feedback, insight, and real ideas to make this work. I also have Ventrilo, and I feel that a meeting should be put together. Just something to really get the whole thing 'rolling' as it were.
Let's try this.
On Saturday August 28th, 2010. I'll be hosting a Foundation of the Manifesto meeting on my personal Ventrilo server.
In order to take part in this meeting, send an email to [email protected].
Subject of Email: Manifesto Meeting
Body of Email: State why you'd be interested in joining in this meeting.
Understand I'm looking for people who are serious about it, and not just want 'something' to do to kill time. If this is going to work, it needs dedicated followers who have resources and are willing to devote time into seeing those resources successful. Before a single word can be written, there needs to be a comity put together which oversees the entire project. Right now, I'm looking to construct this comity.
So please, if you have a lot of experience in gaming over the past 20 years, and even Development experience like the author here; then please join in. This is not some simple project ran by some 17-year-old, I'm a 30-year-old male who has been in the gaming industry, and understands many of the ins-and-outs of certain things; not everything mind you. I know my flaws, and I seek people who can help me in understandings I don't fully know yet. If you can really provide valued insight and resources, please join me on Saturday.
If you know someone, tell them.
Also, if Saturday doesn't pan out. I'm going to try again for the next Saturday, and the next, and the next until people actually join.
If you want in, Email me; I'll send you the information and times of this meeting.
