What the heck is Error code -200? (SOLVED)

By on July 20, 2010 6:09:31 PM from Stardock Forums Stardock Forums

I have been trying to upload a new avatar to the forums. Whenever I try to upload, I get the message:

Upload Error:

Code: -200

Message: 500

Upload will be cancelled, please try again.

What does this mean?

Hopefully I can lure a stardock employee over here who knows something about this.

Go to joeuser and upload from there.

Thanks wizard.

From the woman who changes her avatar more frequently than her underwear.

OK, maybe not MORE frequently... but about the same.

Please move elsewhere.

you didn't mention the browser you're using however, I encounter problems using IE8 to upload to this site and usually end up having to switch over to another browser to do so.

Ok, I have to ask...Where are you trying to change the image from? That is, which site? WC gave that error so I used Joe User to change mine recently with no problems. Give it a try.

I am using firefox to transfer a jpg off of my desktop.

I used Chrome also, and got the same problem.

I usually have to use FF to upload here, I don't get the upload buttons using IE8. last I heard Chrome is not supported here only IE? and FF.

Tried with explorer and firefox, but gave same error code. I check the kb size of the file and the pixel dimensions. Both fit the requirements. Tried two other .jpgs, no luck.

Do you have Flash 10, or 9? I remember the site having issues with avatar uploads and Flash 10, but worked okay with 9. I'm not sure if that ever got fixed. I also don't remember what the exact issue was, so it might not be the same thing.

Allow me to repeat myself.  Have you tried from Joe User?

I'm having this exact issue, aswell. It's unfortunately not resolved for me and others.

At first I thought it was my own problem, since I was fiddling around with .png formats when I first got the error message, but then I saw that someone in the Elemental Avatar thread got the same error message. So I tried to change my avatar into one completely regular one, which worked just the other day, and bam, still Error code -200.

August 8, 2010 4:31:43 PM from Elemental Forums Elemental Forums

Same here.  When I go to remove my existing avatar, I get an "Upload Error: the image could not be removed.  Try again later" message.  If I just try to upload a new image, I get an "Upload Error: -200.  Message: 500" error.

August 10, 2010 1:37:55 PM from Elemental Forums Elemental Forums

I get that error message in Chrome but not in IE 8. In IE 8 I simply don't get any kind of message and the pic of the avatar appears as if I had none (I do have it though).
