Help with a VERY annoying problem

pretty please....

By on September 20, 2009 2:36:05 PM from GalCiv II Forums GalCiv II Forums

So my brother and I play jokes on eachother all of the time. No big deal, but this last time, he put file on my desktop named "File That You Can't Delete.haha "

I'm not sure if the website formatting will show it, but there is a mystery extra space at the end of the .haha file extension. It's annoying, and I can't delete, copy, paste, cut, move, rename, or otherwise do anything to it. If I try to rename it, it puts me into a loop, because my PC won't accept the old name (copy and pasted) because it won't allow me to paste that mystery space. If select rename, copy, and then paste that name onto a new file, it drops the mystery space and the file extension is just ".haha", which is an unknown file type that I can delete (the new file, not the old one)

Things I have tried, that have not worked

- delete it in safe mode

- tried to delete it from the command prompt

- use an unlocker program and delete it

- delete it from the command prompt, after shutting down the explorer.exe

Help please.

Here's one that works. Last April Fools Day, I took a screenshot of my wife's desktop. I then made it her wallpaper and put Conficker has you!!! across her screen. Autohide the taskbar. When she couldn't click any of the "icons" on the screen, had no start button, and saw conficker, she freaked out!!!! It was hilarious.

And you are still alive to tell the tale!!!!  Sure wouldn't be if you were my husband!!! lol!!!!

Dude just download GIPO Utilities' its like 700kb's and it will allow you to delete on boot, any file. I use it to delete things that window's doesn't want me to delete, or weird files that just say stuff like, you cannot delete this its in use, and so forth. its free. its under a meg, and after install, right click that un-deletable file, and click gipo, and select delete on next boot, restart your computer, and it will be gone, it deletes it before windows is even initialized, it has nothing to do with premissions or anything.

I would replace all the system sounds with silence. Create a Silent .wav, Copy and rename as each system sound. (move and/or rename all old system sounds first)

Nope... make his lappy embarrassing to use.  Replace all system sounds with fart noises, turn up the volume way up and hide the controller.

Or...ask starkers to e-mail you his super-duper barkblaster and load it onto your brother's PC. Click enter and run like hell.

Buy an old, $5 hard drive, and copy as many of his files and programs to it as you can. Then, unplug his hard drive and put this one in with it.

Ubuntu's not so bad.  Win ME would be the go.  Yup, then shedule a shutdown with the message: "Windows ME has encountered a problem and needs to close."

And will only reopen on pain of BSOD (blue screen of death). Then the HD blows up. The burner melts down to slag and the OS takes a powder for parts unknown. Sort of like ME did when XP came along. Then Vista came along and smacked it's head into the wall like ME on steroids. Now we got a 7. Roll the dice and tell Kodiac888's bro his #'s up!
