We are here to help!

With v1.01 out, the Demigod connectivity issues are pretty much behind us.

What? You say you're having a problem connecting to people online? We're here to help you.

First, make sure you are doing this:

1. Open ports 6112 to 6200 on your router and point them to the PC IP address you're playing on.  This isn't generally necessary but it can help.

2. Make sure you don't have some firewall blocking out Demigod. Some router firewalls prevent UDP traffic from getting through.

3. Have you tried the parameter /serverproxyonly in the Demigod shortcut as a parameter? This will have us host your connection for you.

4. Make sure you don't have a firewall or packet blocker on your own machine as they are designed to block p2p connections.

Now, if you are still having problems, let's walk through what we need:

#1 Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

#2 What brand and make of router are you using?

#3 What kind of connection do you have? Cable Modem? DSL? ISDN? ADSL? VDSL? Something else?

#4 Post your impulsereactor.log file in your comment. It's in your my documents\my games\gas powered games\demigod directory.

#5 Describe clearly and specifically what problem you are having. What were you trying to do? What did you see on the screen? What did the connectivity dialog say? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Thanks!

Ports opened.

ISP: ATT (Bellsouth)

Using a 2wire 2wire 2701HG-B

DSL connection.

How Should I post that file? I can't find an attachement button.

I'd assume he intends for people to open it up and paste it into the thread.

EDIT: Oh gawd. Terrible advice. Somebody should make me stop posting. Please don't post your entire freaking log into this thread. I can't even read half of it, it's all so dorked up in my browser.

So how might a super-cool computer noob do number 3? It sounds like that might just fix my problems, but I don't even know where to begin. Thanks!

June 2, 2009 10:05:09 PM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

Not sure if this the appropriate place to post, so I apologize before hand. Another forum member helped me discover that my modem uses a symmetric nat. So I figured I should purchase a new modem. However, how can you tell which modems have this dreaded thing and which don't beforehand?

1)ISP: Earthlink

2)Zyxel P660R elnk

3)DLS, 2.75mbit download, 0.3 upload

4) http://pastebin.com/m165ec56d

5)The patch made connecting even more difficult. I'm getting numerous unhandled exceptions after I've reached the lobby and try to finish connecting to everyone. Many times when I try joining a game, it doesnt show anybody in the lobby, not even the host. Hosts report that its not showing me trying to connect to their game. (I ask via PM). If they rehost typically I can get in, but every time I get an unhandled exception error.

Im having problems staying in a game once It starts. I'll get into the game no problems, connect to everyone just fine, be in the middle of the game with almost no lag, then all of a sudden I get the disconnect box that counts everyone out (used to count to 30, new patch makes it count to about 8 or so). I know this is GPG's thing but I was told it was being fixed in this new patch and it still happens. My ports are forwarded and firewalls off and all that, I have Comcast as my ISP, my router is a linksys wrt54g, DSL connection I think.

I think this is the impulsereactor.log file.

Done

Windows Firewall ONLY

Demigod set to allow

3. Have you tried the parameter /serverproxyonly in the Demigod shortcut as a parameter? This will have us host your connection for you.

DONE

4. Make sure you don't have a firewall or packet blocker on your own machine as they are designed to block p2p connections.

DONE

Now, if you are still having problems, let's walk through what we need:

#1 Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

SINGNET (SINGAPORE, Apparently everyone using this ISP can't connect. We can only connect to people within our own country, but not to others.)

http://www.singnet.com.sg

#2 What brand and make of router are you using?

LINKSYS WRT 54G

#3 What kind of connection do you have? Cable Modem? DSL? ISDN? ADSL? VDSL? Something else?

ADSL

#4 Post your impulsereactor.log file in your comment. It's in your my documents\my games\gas powered games\demigod directory.

http://paste-it.net/public/kd854ce/

#5 Describe clearly and specifically what problem you are having. What were you trying to do? What did you see on the screen? What did the connectivity dialog say? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Others can't connect to me or I can't connect to others.

I can only play and connect with people in my own country using local ISP. (SINGAPORE)

I can't connect to AU/EU/US.

I suspect the problem lies with my ISP being their side doing some p2p filtering or proxy thingy.

/serverproxyonly doesn't help.

Unless the issue gets resolve Demigod won't be selling well in SINGAPORE because SINGNET is a major ISP.

And we can't change ISP immediately just to play this game because we are bound by a 2 year contract.

Please look into it.

Untill this issue gets resolve I will be playing DOTA on battle.net and waiting like an idiot for a Miracle Patch that would one day let me play demigod online.

Quick question, are the Proxies now employing the Location Logic you've mentioned before? I don't want to post a problem if it's simply a matter of waiting for this logic to be switched on.

My router only lets me open ports one at a time, and it has a maximum of between 20 and 30 before it starts refusing to let me open any more.  I hand-opened 6002 through 6022 for Demigod and used ImpulseReactorOptions to tell it to use them, but there's no way I can do what you suggest above.

I have verizon DSL

My router is a Westell 6100

my connection is DSL

The problem I am having is sustaining GOOD ping while in a 3v3 match. Just now I was in lobby with 6 players maintaining 100ms. Once the game was launched my ping would shoot from 120 to 1.1k constantly and it was impossible to play. They have been other games where in the lobby my ping reachs 20k just in lobby with 6 players. I am aware that my upload speed is horrid but I was under the impression that the new patch would accomidate people with lower internet connection by a substantial amount. I have not tried 2v2 but does my upload speed even with the connectivity update basically lock me into 2v2 until I get better internet? BTW my upload speed is 160 Kbits/sec. Below is the impulsereactor.log (its long lol).

#1 My ISP is Singtel, a local ISP in Singapore. Many other players subscribed under this ISP has had problems with Demigod too..

#2 My router is 2Wire 2701HGV-E

#3 I have no modem, ironically. I think my router functions both as a modem and as a router. My internet map is like this:

Wall phone line >> 2Wire 2701HGV-E >> PC

#4 Here it is

http://paste-it.net/public/b3cb496/

#5 My issue is that I've never been able to enter a game lobby online before. I always get stuck in connecting to others. I always get stuck in 'Attempting to connect' or 'Waiting to connect'. Occasionally, I may be able to connect to the host of the game, but no one else can connect to me. I've tried everything. Portforwarding, /serverproxyonly, disabling firewalls. Heres a screenie that might help.

This is a case where I did manage to connect to the host, but no one else. The connection will stay like this endlessly till I get kicked or leave, so I never get past the connection and get into a lobby. I've NEVER ever even played ONE online multiplayer game after purchasing demigod for almost a month, and its VERY frustrating.

I appreciate your patience and help very much. Thanks for reading.

Hello

I guess i will be the 1st one to respond. I was able to connect fine until the May 20th patch, then i could not connect at all. when the option for /serverproxy came out, i added that, the issue i run into is any custom game i get into, there is one person that cannot connect to me. I have ports 6100 to 6200 opened on my router, i made sure that this corresonds to what is under the impulsereactionoptions. I made sure that anything that may block incoming traffic on the router had been disabled. I did try other ports as well and change them under the impulsereactoroptions as well.  If i keep trying to join custom games, eventually everyone can connect to me and I can play a game (however its 1 out every 20 attempts it seems), so i am not sure if its me or the other people that cannot connect. When I look under connection info, they seem to be connected to everyone but me. Again, its about 1 person out of 6 (assuming its 3 vs 3.)

Here is my info:
1)My ISP is COX

2) My router is a netgear WNDR3300

3) I do have the command switch added, and I see sometimes have me as proxied, and sometimes they don't

3) My connection is cable, i did check speedtest.com and well above the requirements for a good connection

4) http://paste-it.net/public/k0dab04/

The above was a game where 2 players could not connect to me, i was connected to each of them, and they were connected to everyone else. This is according to the connection screen.

If you need anymore info or want me to try anything else, please let me know. After reading the forums, i think other people are having this issue with 1 or 2 people not connecting, so hopefully this will help them out as well. thanks!

My issue is when I connect to a game, I am only generally seeing one way connection I connect to XYZ but they aren't showing as connected to me (or vice versa) - I've had a 1v1 and a 2v2 game only so far (skirmish)

Ports 6073 and 6100-6200 open for UDP AND TCP and forwarded to my machine (similar to how I setup Sins hosting for 1.05 which I could do (unlike so many others))

/serverproxyonly doesn't seem to be doing much of anything different

I'm with Exetel (Australia) on ADSL2+ using a Billion router/firewall/modem

I tried disabling the firewall and nothing happened changed. Since I can play (sometimes), the firewall isn't stopping it as some connections are occuring, but not all of them are.

Also, when I leave lobbies/get booted etc... the game is locking up and I have to kill the process. I then can't always log back into Impulse - found the following "Sorry, but you have exceeded the max logins for this account" in my Demigodlog file.

Also noticed that if I join a game the connection dialog doesn't update as more people joing the lobby (even if I am able to chat to them). And when I tried hosting, no one showed as connected until they actually left the lobby and went looking elsewhere.

Ok. Gone through everything listed above and most of the time I still can't connect. So, here comes the slew of info.

ISP: Qwest

Connection Type: DSL

Router: Linksys BEFSR41

Problem: As stated above, most of the time, I can't connect to other people. It almost seems as if the connection request has timed out and doesn't retry (the reason I think this is on the few occasions where I have "hosted", I have chosen to eject players that can't connect to me. As soon as I do this, the players connection info updates and shows that they have connected.). I either can't connect or the others can't connect to me. This happens in Pantheon and Skirmish mode.

aqualeris: You really weren't supposed to dump your log file in here, the admins could never possibly find the relevant info. Upload it to a site and link.

Ports to 6100-6200 and 6073 forwarded to my IP and confirmed open by the portforward.com tool. (tried DMZ too).

No Firewall active (neither router nor my pc).

Tried /serverproxyonly

Information you require:

#1. My ISP is www.alice-dsl.de (I contacted them and they say they don't block p2p traffic)

#2. TP-Link TL-R402M

#3. ADSL

#4. http://pastebin.com/m4c1e39df

#5. On conneting to a game, connection stops while waiting to connect to other players in that game. Connectivity dialog shows that i am able to connect to other players, but no one seems to connect to me, either says waiting or attempting to connect to me but no succesfull connection ever.

Edit: luckily i had a second router here, with which it works... so despite having upgraded the firmware on the tp-link and being 100% sure to have it set up correctly, it didnt work. so maybe thats some help to people with the same router
