Download/Installation problem

By on April 14, 2009 7:21:24 AM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

Hi,

I have been downloading DG today, it seemed to be working ok, but I left it downloading to have dinner and when I came back Impulse had crashed, and I had to start downloading it again. If I lived in America it wouldn't matter so much, but over here we have download limits, and having to start downloading from 0% again will destroy my limit.

Has anyone had this problem, and more to the point, is there any way of recovering the download? Surely if it's already been downloading for around 8 hours, there would need to be files stored somewhere on my computer. It just doesn't make sense that everything would vanish.

When I click the top-left button in Impulse and go to "Restore Archive", there's nothing there. My whole Impulse folder in My Computer is around 4mb, so if anything is saved, I can't find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Under normal conditions your download should resume at the point of the crash.

If you want to check first if the temporary files are still around you can look up the location of these files at the preferences of impulse (top-left button) under the folder tab.

HTH

edit: The "Restore archive" function is manually (or automatically) archived software which was previously installed. It is also useful if you want to transfer the game to another computer.

Yeah, unfortunately the download didn't resume. It just fucked off. Doesn't look like there's anything I can do. I wish we didn't have to use Impulse; it's very annoying.

Thanks for your reply though.

If you do not have a fast or reliable connection, try Impulse Anywhere. The archives offered there are segmented into 250mb chunks.

Thanks for letting me know about Impulse Anywhere kyro. Now that it's a new month and our download limit's been reset I was able to redownload Demigod in one go, but I'm sure Impulse Anywhere will be useful in the future, and it's a great idea for people with download limits.

My brother and I are really enjoying Demigod, fantastic game.
