Solution: Demigod won't launch!

We have identified a case where Demigod won't launch.

The Logitech QuickCam seems to prevent Demigod from launching. We don't know why. Disable the tray item and it should work fine.

 

Edit: It may also be necessary to close the lvprcinj process via Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and look on the processes tab).

I have also a launch problem with Demigod:

- I disabled my Logitech Webcam (removed the cable and closed the tray app)

- Google toolbar is not installed.

- the "push the run button spam trick" seams not to work ( after i reached 69 starts i gave it up)

the "demigodstub.exe" has the same effect as the normal exe:

for a short time the Hourglass cursor appears but nothing else happens. No error dialog, nothing.

But if i verify my installation in Impulse it says the game is installed correct.

 

I am using Windows XP with SP3.

 

 

If you tell me where a log file is stored I can send it to you.

The only file i found was a pf file in the windows prefetch folder but i don't if you can read it.

Did you try my solution I posted earlier?  Kill the two processes in Task Manager and it will work.  Batch file is optional but it's easier than killing those processes after each reboot...

Maybe Stardock can put the taskkill in the exe  -or the demigod stub thingy.

I've tried every solution available on this forum and Demigod still won't run. The title screen boots up and then just hangs there with the dreaded hour glass showing. I don't see why I should waste my time trying to implement a million tweaks just to get a game running. If I buy a toaster I expect it to turn bread into toast. If I buy a game I expect it to run without any conflicts.

I shall be contacting StarDock and asking for a refund.

I have just bought this webcam, and also have this issue.... I thought there was something wrong with the bloody game and unintalled it (have back up on the CD but it wont reinstall itself...

I have just ordered a large piece of humble pie from the bakers.

New drivers were available from May 6th for my graphics cards which I hadn't checked. Loaded the new drivers. Started Demigod from the DemigodStub icon and hey presto the game works. No need to create batch files or turn things off.

I shall now go forth and do battle with a mouth full of pie.

folcan1: faultrep.dll is the dll responsible for Windows fault reporting.  If you get this error when trying to launch Demigod then something is pretty messed up with your OS install.  I'd suggest running an SFC scan, or if need be a repair install of the OS to fix.

@bmac2 & everyone still having problems.

In my appinit I had wbsys.dll (windows blinds) installed from AlienGUIse. I did not have Google Desktop installed and it was the dll on the list. Uninstalling AlienGUIse removed this from the registry as well. The game launches fine now.

Stub fix launched the game for me, but .exe would not run.  Uninstalling Google Desktop resolved the .exe issue.

Demigod isnt launching for me.. i dont have a webcam, and i dont have comodo firewall.. it installed just fine, and when i click "Play Game" it shows the loading icon for like 3 seconds and then disappears, and nothing happens. i tried looking in Processes to see what if it even tries to launch, but most of the time Demigod.exe doesnt show up. and when it does it goes away in a few minutes... can anyone please, PLEASE tell me why it wont work?

Hi,

I was having this problem too, untill I unstalled GoogleDesktop. I had tried everything before that on everyones replies, but to no avail. So if you have GoogleDesktop and you cant launch the game, uninstall it!

Yeah,me too.

I dont have anything from these applications or webcams and not starting,it gives me that long error...

Please fix this... If we buyed the game,at least move your @$$es and fix this error... OMG...
