Seeing through the friggin Rook

By on February 26, 2009 1:02:48 AM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

I think that nothing should impede your line of sight to your avatar, including other people's. One of the major things that gets me killed is having a rook (allied or not) impede my view of the battlefield. Having to adjust the camera, is time taken away from me, and not being able to cast shiedl, or have my access to the battlefield blocked while in a fight can be a death sentence. Not only that, but your own avatar should stand out a bit more, especially on a cluttered battlefield. Your own character can get lost in the background.

I think these would both be good ideas.  But you should probably be able to toggle them off/on, seperately.

i actually like the rook blocking the view. i feel its one of his "weaknesses"

I'm going to bump this for more input on this idea.

again I'm going to bump this, I'm not sure if the beta feedback forum is archived or integrated into another new forum now that the game is out, but I'm going to bump in nonetheless. I really think things between your avatar and the camera should be translucent or something like that. or possibly remain highlighted whether or not you're pointing at it.

I think this is just another aspect of Rook that we have to learn to adopt to. Keeping tabs on the camera, continuously updating for the optimal viewpoint in any given situation, is also a skill that need to be mastered. In the end, all other skills being equal, camera handling may actually be the skill to win the day!

I say keep it as it is. In the beginning i also thought the Rook was unnecesarily large, but i adapted, and now i like this feature, trying to use it to my advantage, hiding my demigod under his feet som he cannot target me, or when i am rook, i might guess where he got his camera and try to impede his view

It's more than the rook, it's also the cluttered battlefield.

How about a subtle silhouette highlighting, similar to when you mouse-over your avatar?

Quoting Aprogas,
How about a subtle silhouette highlighting, similar to when you mouse-over your avatar?
I was thinking something like that too. Maybe some translucence by the things between your avatar and the camera too.
