could you be a bit more specific? What abilities in particular do you feel are overpowered? Are you seeing this against one opponent or every Regulus you've ever faced?
I think there's a bit of slant, because in my experience many skilled players prefer Regulus or use him as an alternate. It would be unfortunate if he got nerfed because some people who can play like to play as Reg..
The REASONS why Regulus is overpowered:
1) The Snipe
Lets see, his Snipe:
a ) is Incredibly Mana Efficient for the Damage it causes. IE Overpowered.
b ) possesses an Incredible Cast Range, which continues to track the enemy in the fog of war. (yes even without the Scarab)
c ) has a Low Cool Down which begs for repeated abuse especially from the Healing Crystal.
d ) is used and abused by twink teams to kill any player that emerges from the fog of war. IE MULTIPLE Regulus players.
What needs to change to BALANCE the ability:
a ) Increase Mana cost by 60% to 75%, keep the same amount of Damage.
b ) Cut casting range down by 25% to 30%.
c ) Increase the cooldown to 25 secs, which would be unaffected by cool down modifiers.
d ) Once a player is sniped, he cannot be the target of another snipe for 10 seconds.
2) The Mines
Are they really mines?:
a ) The Casting Range is OVERPOWERED as the mines act more like dormant Grenades.
b ) The Casting Time is incredibly short.
How to fix the proximity mines:
a ) The Casting Range should be cut down by 70%, after all he is concealing mines where he is physically located .
b ) Casting time should be increased by 30%, this is a booby trap spell which should take time OR it should take at least 5 secs for the mines to become invisible.
3) Poor Map Design without Regulus in mind.
a) There are few open spaces where either side is not protected to some extent by a nearby tower. This goes double for Regulus.
The solution:
a) Increase distances and areas that are unprotected, so that players MUST RISK their character in a direct confrontation more frequently.
My Beef is that "skilled players" do not use Regulus, but TWINKS. This character has ZERO BATTLEFIELD ACCOUNTABILITY, he can merey stay within the fog of war continually sniping and laying mines as he chooses without EVER RISKING DEATH. After these players have farmed up enough, they can either continue to hide behind their massive citadel upgraded waves OR merely deck themselves out in artifacts and push till the cows come home. That is not skill, that is the result of broken or abused game mechanics. And why should the developers FIX all the other Demigods, why not fix just the one?
Ahh, the often unattainable but frequently sought after holy grail of game balance.
In this case, game balance can be a reality. Crunch Time = Nerf Regulus Time.
I would appreciate some feedback, possibly even Frogboy if he has time left in his busy schedule.
