Better Terrain and Maps

By on December 19, 2008 4:35:58 PM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

I would love to see the maps become much, much more complex.

If for nothing else, for the aesthetics.  Completely symmetrical maps are hard on the eyes after a while.

Strategy wise there are room for improvements as well.  Height advantages, line of sight blockers, spell blocking terrain (not sure if the engine allows for this), move slower in water, and even destructible terrain.

If you want to get really fancy, some heroes could freeze rivers making heroes walk faster across them.  There could be a portable bridge item (consumable) to allow people to walk across gaps, usable even in the current maps.

Most of the things you suggest can not be included this late in the process.  Think about it.

Wasn't height of terrain a big problem for the ai in supcom and this is built of the same engine if I'm not mistaken. I see the bridge item as being glitchastic.

I just got a vision of grunts iceskating around with a torch bearer laughing heartily in the background.

Clearly, Burnmelt's weed is superior to mine.
