Had just been wondering where some of you got your name from - what inspired it and so forth. Jafo's I know and I am mostly the same.

Is there a story behind your names here, folks?

Mine comes from Xiahou Dun.  Historical figure, general, governor, warrior, and adviser during the Three Kingdoms period of China, about early 3rd century AD.  When I was growing up, the first Strategy wargame I ever played was Romance of the Three Kingdoms.  I always played as Cao Cao, my friend RJ played as Sun Jian, and our friend Ryan played as Liu Bei.  We were around 10 I think at the time.  Well, Cao Cao's most bad ass General was Xiahou Dun, and when you are 10 eyepatches are cool too.  As the years went on, and playing every new installment of Romance of the Three kingdoms that came to the states, and reading the novel and other histories, I became a big fan of the time period.  Well, when that internet thing got big, and I joined gaming sites, I chose the user name "Xiahou Dun".  Eventually over the years is morphed into Lord Xia.  I have accounts at some sites that are over 12 years old using that name.

I was PuterDudeJim, but I have always been a redneck at heart. So, when a nick change was required of me, it had to be RedneckDude.

I am still PuterDudeJim at some sites, and DXDesigner at others.

Nah! Not boring to me. I remember the other name, as well - from years ago. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting. Heck of a story, yep. Would, perhaps indeed could not have guessed such a story behind a name. Neat how something can fascinate for so long, isn't it? Good onya for sticking with that over these years and, if you care, I approve of the name.

Quoting Lord Xia,
Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Love that game, had the Amiga version

Ok ... my name is a tag I've used since the BBS days. Taz - because I'm in Tasmania, Gecko - was my old nickname from school ... because I was a very good swimmer, went flat out like a lizard drinking thus I was called Gecko or Gecks.

A focal point of my life's work is studying the history of mythology and religious thought, promoting a positive direction.  Plus, my name contains one of the four cardinal points, and I used to be the PM and "cardinal director" for my companies.

My nickname predates the internet, as far back as the early 70's. It was given to me for my ability to fix the unfixable and break the unbreakable. It was my radio "handle" for several decades as well.

I start my website, LightStar Technologies, back in 1996 and my user name and site name at the time were both inspired by just science fiction in general. I wanted something with the word "Star" in it, and then a Light went off in my head, so the name "LightStar".
