Robert Munch and the latest stuff

I'm pretty tired tonight, but wanted to throw up a quick post as it was on my mind. I've recently played several games with robert munch on a few accounts he knows and a few he doesn't. In 100% of these games, Robert has not acted like a jerk in the slightest. Now, many of you have encountered Robert in the past and have had negative experiences (me too). BUT - I'm a firm believer that folks that may have been a problem on 1 day, can on the next day be pretty decent folks. It happens to all of us - we have a crap day at work, we blahblahblah... and so on. Anyway, I made a few comments in a post awhile back basically saying that I'd wager it wouldn't be all that hard for Robert to take a few days off from attacking/insulting folks and it seems clear to me that he has, in fact, done exactly that. I haven't heard a single post negative comment about Robert since then and I've personally played with and against him several times since that last thread. Anyway, his current user name as of today is I_AM_BETTER_THAN_YOU. Heh - I know, doesn't sound like a guy that is all that passive, but I've found him, after a few discussions on one of my alts, to actually be a decent guy that keeps up on the forums and will certainly read this and many other posts. Anyway, if you see I_AM_BETTER_THAN_YOU join/host any games, give him a shot. He's a decent guy imo. Not to say that he won't go nuts anytime soon, but I talked to him about 3 days ago and he seemed solid to me and I wouldn't have any problems playing with him on my team.

Other stuff - had some good tests today with ai skirmish and uberfix. Things are looking really good. Uberfix is proving to be solid and the ai skirmish mod is getting better and better. I daresay that if we keep this up, tier 1 folks might enjoy adding the ai skrimish mod into the rotation.

And last, I could still use help testing uberfix/ai skirmish/favor mod. If any of you are willing to help me out, send me a pm/respond here/message me on vent and I will gladly take your help. I've spent the good part of the last 1-2 weeks focused on testing to get the existing mods into something we can hopefully get distributed in the next demigod patch.

I've encountered Robert in doggu's lobby and was initially quite hostile to him (given his overall reputation and, especially, his racist remarks). However, since we were desperate to get the game going (not sure why, but doggu is always desperate to get the game going like there's no tomorrow ), I decided to stay and listen. No "fags", no "niggers". The guy was pretty friendly and funny, in fact. His undeniable sense of humour was now pointed in the right direction... So maybe Bobby has decided a good reputation is better than a bad one, after all

Yeah, he's been doing great. On most nights I have at least 1 game with him. We had a nice talk last night about my favorite, Kromt's filthy rich games. He was even being nice to Kromt which I think I read somewhere they had problems. But yeah, if you’ve written him off, give him another shot.

Now........this might be a stretch for you guys but I have honestly had the most fun in this game playing Rich(I think his name is) aka OMG_userbanned. I don't condone any of his previous antics at all and I don’t want to highjack and turn this into a userbanned discussion but I would say he is also a decent guy in game…….with the occasional outburst that I don’t understand but I’ve witnessed some outbursts from people that post here that seem calm and well spoken that I don’t understand either. Others may have different experiences with him but I can only think of 1 or 2 that really were over the top in good 30-40 games. I think he took a lot of shit from everyone just being associated with the hopefully previous Munch in that whole FC thing. I’d probably be pissed too. The funniest 3v3 game I ever had was on a slow night with me and him on separate teams and the rest kinda new players. I don’t even know what was going on because it seemed like a close long match but we would take breaks and race each other in the mana lane and let the newer guys go at it fighting for ports. We would start at my double towers and race to his port. He was ere and I was DA. It was end game so we had all the good equip j-boot, wand, he had his huge bat swarm. I should have swapped him and warp striked but didn’t even think about it I was too busy trying to get my boots to proc. More often times than not we seem to be stuck in these games with just me and him being the decent players so I’ve had a few other racing games with him. But anyways maybe there is hope for him too.

With all due respect, brash, that guy has begun to harass me verbally really hard by pm'ing all kind of nonsensical remarks recently. I did not provoke him in any way. I was accused of being: (a) "a pussy" (the only time I played vs. him, he played on a really really "stacked" team including Renz, while I was on a much weaker team, so I don't really know what he was referring to: I don't mind playing on weaker teams, especially vs Renz, and I never said a word about balance); ( "Pacov's bitch": honestly, no idea, why - I'm not even sure I like Pacov that much on a personal level, though I truly respect the man for what he's doing for this community and, may I be excused for political rhetorics, share his vision in most cases; (c) "a faggot": the guy was having about ~3000 ms ping (no joking, both Darkliath and Renz were in that game), it was completely unplayable. I proposed rematch, the guy called us all forum faggots and quit the game.

The harassment didn't stop until I put an end to it by promising to submit the log to Stardock support to get his acc banned not only on the forums. Now, I admit, I wasn't entirely calm and correct during that pm war, but really... I'm only human, and I don't enjoy being called a pussy, a bitch and a faggot for no reason at all.

This is the kind of stuff that gets me. Not targeting you mage but there seems to always be someone to chime in with a little dig or slap to the face or something that sets the whole thing off.

Indeed - no need to set things off, per se. I really don't know if omg_userbanned has bothered to change his behavior or not, frankly. I think things kicked off with him and jona having some sort of pissing match with him just trading jabs here and there... and somewhere down the line he started the whole harassing folks with pms, etc, thing. At any rate, the same thing goes for him, imo, though. If folks change poor behavior, I really don't have any issue with them and would gladly play with them again. It's pretty easy to understand that people in the community don't want to be harassed/stalked by players for inexplicable reasons. And once that clicks for folks and they are willing to be a bit more civil, then now were all just having fun playing games together. Your_maker fell into the same boat. He did the harassing thing for a bit - after some chats with him, etc, I haven't really seen the negative behavior since. He's super competitive, but actually a nice guy. Happy to play with/against him now as well.

if you quote the whole thing - eg don't select text you want, just click on the quote button. Then you can edit it down if you want.

It can be a little quirky, though. I think you can only do one "quote who" function per post and only as the start of a post. I'd imagine you'll see what I mean if you start using this function.

while his maybe true, you have to ask yourself "What are the chances of them stopping and/or going away even if left alone." I can't speak for anyone else, but from my experience it has always been none. Trolls would get worse and worse whether they were provoked or not. This way someone could get a laugh out of it.

Played with I_AM_BETTER_THAN_YOU other night, was a solid and helpful and upbeat fellow.

Although, Im surprised at the amount of insincere exploiting cheapskates who still play Demigod. If their not critical stating the game or the other types of exploits, they are just being nasty. I keep coming back every few months, and not seeing an improvement. really Sad panda.
