Quoting Mumblefratz,

I figure in another 2 years I'll have reached my goal of $2,000,000 of *after tax* savings which represents at least $80K per year of interest income, so even if you right wingnuts manage to privatize Social Security it will be no skin off my back. At that point I'll be 60 and ready to finish out my life on permanent vacation.

What I do find amusing is that a thirty something year old can be so assured of their financial future that they can spout the right wing drivel that you do. However to be able to do so you must already have a fully funded trust fund. How else can you be so assured that you won't end up eating cat food? But then there are no shortage of folks that are stupid enough to cut off their own nose just to spite their face.

Well it beats getting raped by vikings

Do yourself a favor, take that money for your retirement and buy yourself a sense of humor. The last thing this world needs is another sour senior citizen for us younger people to have to deal with on the streets. For a man your age you sure do react like a sensitive teenager who doesn't know the difference between a joke and and insult. I guess you are living proof wisdom is not always guaranteed with age. Jeesh.

BTW, I seriously doubt you managed this by following those precious left wing dream policies you wish upon the rest of the country. Unless you are that brain dead to think someone under a socialist system can attain that which you like to brag about here as if any of us actually care how much money you got saved. Anyways, I am not here to drag this article away from it's intended purpose of finding out other peoples ages. Like I said above, use some of that precious money you saved under Capitalist policies and buy yourself a sense of humor and deprive the rest of us of another nagging senior citizen.

Sorry Solace for these off track comments. Some people are just too consumed with their passions and their skins have gotten too thin thru out the years to remember to laugh every once in a while.

First off, I'm far more likely to have to deal with *you* on the streets than it is the other way around.

Secondly your comments do not exist in a vacuum. They accumulate with other comments you've made in other threads to make a consistent whole. You can take your "joke" and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

Unlike you, I don't guess, I know you are living proof that youth is wasted on the young. Better start working on acquiring that taste for cat food, you're going to need it.

Perhaps, it doesn't negate my comment though. I will still have to deal with another sour life form on this planet.

If you don't have the ability to separate the persons political views from the person rest of their life then you got issues. If I spent my time judging people on their political opinions I would not get along with many people. My mom tends to lean Democrat yet I love my mom and regardless if we disagree I don't accumulate her opinions and get mad at her later. You need to grow up dude. So far I have yet to be insulting to you besides stating how sour you seem to be yet here you are blowing your top. Seriously dude, chill out, relax, grow up and stop being so sensitive. Gosh you don't stop proving me right here, I'm not use to this.

Unlike you, I don't guess, I know you are living proof that youth is wasted on the young. Better start working on acquiring that taste for cat food, you're going to need it.

LOL, I guess you were born an adult right? Here's the difference between you and me, if life ever reached a point where cat food was the only food source, odds are I would find it tasteful and satisfying while you would starve to death. I need not have millions to fall back on to live a decent life. Steak and wine are not necessities to me. I could have 10 million in the bank right now and still go to burger king and order a #1 with large fries and a coke. I would come how to white rice, beans and $1.59 per lbs fried chicken and I would be just fine with my 27 inch non-flat screen, non-high definition TV watching local channels because unlike you I don't need to be sure I can enjoy vacations, days at the golf course or dinner at the lodge when I retire. I'll be happy on my $10 hammock in my back yard listening to some music and watching my grandkids run around playing. I may have a passion for technology, but I can survive and be happy even in a lifestyle like most people in Cuba and Dominican Republic without the lousy politicians and their communist BS.

Nice try my friend but rest assure I do not envy your retirement plans. I'm happy being myself and that's all that matters. Again, thank you for proving my point about how sour you are.

And the obscenely rich thank you for supporting their lifestyle and for providing yet another back upon which to dance.

That's the thing that I've never understood. I can understand how those that have it made can embrace the "greed is good" and "blame the victim" mantras. I don't agree with or approve of their position however I can at least understand how someone that has it made can not really give a fuck about anyone but themselves. What I can't understand is how someone that is obviously as much of a peasant as you are can support policies that are detrimental to yourself and those like you while benefiting only people that could literally not care less about you.

You're probably not old enough to remember the Li'l Abner comic strip by Al Capp. Anyway there was a creature in Li'l Abner called the shmoo that "are delicious to eat, and are eager to be eaten. If a human looks at one hungrily, it will happily immolate itself itself, either by jumping into a frying pan, after which they taste like chicken, or into a broiling pan, after which they taste like steak. When roasted they taste like pork, and when baked they taste like catfish. (Raw, they taste like oysters on the half-shell.)"

You and those like you would make perfect shmoos.

As an aside my pittance of a savings hardly makes me uber rich. What it does is simply allow me to be comfortable in my old age and was achieved by a lifetime of hard work and consistently living beneath my means. I too have a 27" non flat screen TV which if I recall correctly I bought in 1985 which if I calculate correctly was before you were born.

And yes I have managed to achieve what I have by "following those precious left wing dream policies you wish upon the rest of the country." After all the only real left wing dream policy I have is that I do not begrudge the fact that some portion of my taxes goes to help people that are in need.

On the other hand the right doesn't begrudge the portion of their taxes that are spent on senseless wars that accomplish nothing other than to throw our troops under the bus (but of course that's not a big a deal since because of the nature of our volunteer army and the economy it's pretty much only the poor that go into the services) or line the pockets of military industrial complex companies like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Halliburton and the like.

So it all boils down to a choice. I choose to be for "regular" people from the vanishingly small middle class whereas you prefer to support mega-corporations to the detriment of those same folks and to rationalize your total disdain of both yourself and those like you, you blame the victim while rewarding the perpetrator.

May you get the future that you deserve.

You know, I just saw a commercial on TV that said I could feed and provide shelter for a child and their family for only $20 a month.  That got me thinking, the family in question is probably at least 6 members strong, but I'll go with 4 just to be on the safe side.  That means it's $5 per person for the whole month.  All of my grandparents and great grandparents died at or near age 63 so that's about all I'm giving myself if genetics has anything to say about my lifespan.  That would mean I should expect to see 13 years of retirement if I retired at age 50.  Now considering there's a place that a person can be fed and given shelter for $5 a month, that would mean $780 covers my necessary retirement expenses and the rest is mine to have fun with.  I have so much more then $780...  If I ever find out where that place is, I will move there and with my wealth I will be their king.  =D

Mumble, Chuck, both of you, knock it OFF. This thread has nothing to do with financial policy, nor do I want it to. I would have expected somebody like you to know better than to drag political flamebait into this, but it seems I was mistaken... ahh well, I don't particularly care if the thread gets locked, but I still feel compelled to warn you two that that will in all likelihood be the outcome of your little spat.

Sigh..... I remember a time when Mumble's threads fostered an actual civil debate.... and didn't spawn on completely unrelated topics.

Mumble, Chuck, both of you, knock it OFF
And who made you the arbiter of proper decorum?

Chuck started it with his unnecessary quotation and comment of a reply I made almost a month ago and 12 replies prior to his response. It was Chuck that went out of his way to engage me but then I'm supposed to be the mature one to let it slide? Well I'm sorry, due to previous history with Chuck, I don't care to let it slide and my comments have simply been in response to his replies which were in fact specifically directed at me.

I don't recall either Chuck or I referencing you so I'm a bit at a loss as to why you feel "compelled" to join the fray. If your desire was to defuse the situation and let this thread go back to its innocuous topic then the best thing you could have done  was to ignore it, all your comment here does is to pour more gas on the fire.

In any case this is not *your* thread to be concerned about nor is it *my* thread that for some reason you feel is required to "foster actual civil debate", it's merely a thread in which I made an on topic reply only to have Chuck come by a month later and a half a page further down the thread to poke me with a stick. As I said I did not go out of my way to engage Chuck, Chuck went out of his way to engage me and I'm sorry if your impression of me is shattered by my simply being unwilling to lie down and be someones doormat.

Again Solace, I apologize for hijacking the thread, it was not my intention. I won't address his inability to shut up anymore.

Not sure who you are what what powers you may have but I tried to sweeten up the sourpuss but he's just to proud to not have the last word. Still, feel free to block this if you can it won't make me lose any sleep. He's just mad he can't block me here like he has on his blog.

BTW, this is not one of Mumble's "I am king, your opinion does not count if it defies mine" articles.

Quoting Mumblefratz,

Unlike you, I don't guess, I know you are living proof that youth is wasted on the young. Better start working on acquiring that taste for cat food, you're going to need it.

I always found this phrase funny, youth is wasted on the young. If it was given to the old, then they'd wasted it to, because chances are they have already wasted their youth in one way or another.  Its all the same shit different toilet, it may not have been wasted the same way it is today, but their elders were saying the same thing. Youth is wasted on the young!

Anyways

Baby and enjoying my wasted youth by drawing my life away.
