Security Issues in Demigod

By on December 30, 2009 11:08:21 PM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

Soooo I was looking through some stuff and I noticed a few pretty bad security issues in the AppData folders (which mods have access to).

First, and most well known is saving the impulse password in the games.pref. Second is that the ImpulseReactor.log file stores IPs of all the players you play with each time you restart demigod. I know that RickMnBlaze got in trouble for data-mining yet there is all the information in a nice little txt file that we could just back up. Or, alternatively, a mod could just assemble the data. I'm aware that such a malicious mod is unlikely to be made and also IP addresses are not the ... dangerous things in the world to have a trace but it would still be nice if these games didn't make it THAT easy to get.

Also, the reason chats take so g'damn long:

Yep. A GET takes 700 ms. That is sadface.
