Demigod 1 CD LAN, different OSs

I've been trying to LAN Demigod with a couple friends, however, I'm running into a problem.

I (Demigod owner) have Windows Vista on my machine. So I went into Impulse, archived the game. Copied the archive to my friends computer (Windows XP SP3), opened Impulse on his machine and tried to restore the archive.

Impulse responded with a "Unable to restore archive". Hmm, I repeated the steps incase the archive became corrupt, no go, same thing.

So looking around a bit, I see that restoring archives does not work across different windows OSs.

Whats the best way to do this?

The easiest way is to uninstall from your PC then right-click on the game and choose Download and Archive option.  That archive can be shared across operating systems.

Only archives that you made from already installed games/apps can't be shared across OS. Using "Download and archive" as Zubaz suggested, or downloading from http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com will work fine.

The archive you created can only be restored on the same account it was created on. Are you trying to restore it on another account?

You can temporarily log in on the other computer and restore the archive, as the game will start later even if Impulse is not running, and you can LAN.

Thanks for posting this. I was about to ask the same question since we're having a LAN next week.
