Solution: Demigod won't launch!

We have identified a case where Demigod won't launch.

The Logitech QuickCam seems to prevent Demigod from launching. We don't know why. Disable the tray item and it should work fine.

 

Edit: It may also be necessary to close the lvprcinj process via Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and look on the processes tab).

I remember something like this affecting Supreme Commander as well. Shame that Logitech can't update its crappy software to stop this incompatiability.

Unreal.  That is quite the conflict - a webcam prevents Demigod from launching?!  But I have to confess, I have this problem and I do infact have a Logitech webcam.  I'll test this solution when I get Demigod today!!  I've never been happier to be a participant in a beta - and I've been in a few.

Apparently Logitech's TSR likes to inject itself into any running programs, regardless whether they use camera functionality or not.

I have a QuickCam but after killing the app in the tray and killing the app in task mgr it still doesn't run. This sounds weird but the only way it runs is if I reboot and immediately launch the game as soon as I log in. If I start more than a moment later or the game crashes and I have to restart it, I get the same issue where I get an hourglass but no response. I tried killing any apps that weren't specifically just for windows OS and nothing is working except my convoluted solution.

 

I have a G9 mouse and a G15 keyboard but I killed all those apps too just in case and nothing else works.

Game won't start - despite what this shows.  Says I've played 55 times, when in reality it hasn't run correctly even once.  I've completely disabled the Logitech Quickcam stuff.  I'll try uninstalling now, I guess...

im having a problem with installing impulse, the same rpoblem actually, if that sounds wierd. ive downloaded it perfectly, but when i click install, a shield pops up, goes through, then another one pops up and imediatly goes away. this happens even when i disable virus software and adware. help?

Try verifying the game in Impulse.  To verify the application through Impulse:

-Launch Impulse.  Right click on the entry for the application and choose "Verify application"
-Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application.  You should be given feedback as to the state of the installed application.
-If errors are found, an update should be made available in Impulse.  Run this update.
-Once the update completes, reboot your PC.

Having the same problem. First few attempts to run met with no joy. But then, this morning, it did start once before i left for work. Now, no joy!! Been through the above tips and suggestions.

Ok, progress!  I can get Demigod to run 100% reliably (so far, at least).

Here is how I did it:

  1. Run MSCONFIG
  2. Disable non-Microsoft services
  3. Disable all startup programs
  4. Restart and check "don't show me this again"

After you do that, your computer will run fine, but nothing "extra" will start up.  It will be very much like a fresh Windows XP installation.  By disabling everything but what Windows needs to run, you will eliminate anything that could be conflicting with Demigod.  You won't leave it like that though!  This is the first step - try disabling everything, then run Demigod.  If it is fine, then start re-enabling things a few at a time by going back into MSCONFIG and re-enabling programs and services.  Basically reverse the process one or two services/startup items at a time until you isolate the one that is causing the problem.

i got it to install, when i turned off my comp. they all popped up lol, it wasnt a good time exiting them all, but atleast now i have impulse and soonw ill have demigod! =]

Fix does not work.  Tried both disabling the quickcam system tray icon and then disabling all startup programs as chaos suggested.  Game still will not start. I'm about to return this 40 dollar beer coaster.

I cant get Demigod to launch either. I have a Logitech webcam but Ive stopped the processes and even ripped out the cord to it. I dont have COMODO firewall which I also saw would stop it.

Ive managed to get it running three times so far, by repeatedly shutting down impulse and restarting, and spamming "run". It seems random when it wants to start for me! Like the damn thing is saying "ooooh you know, Im not in the mood right now."
Ive rebooted the comp, Rebooted impulse, and still its just repeatedly pressing "run" with a few minutes intervals and restarting impulse every now and then that eventually gets it to work.

Im on Win XP Home.

What I notice is, when I click run, a process called "Demigod" does start (at around 9000kb.) but it doesnt do anything. After a few seconds again it disappear.

Ive now tried for ~1 hr to get the program to run.

I patched it, it still didnt work.

What did work was clicking my way to RSI on the Run button until it appeared.
So Im playing now. Now I have another agony, My missing achivements and favor points!

Same problem here.  I'm running Comodo Firewall as well.  It's never caused me any trouble with any other games though, so not sure why it's a problem.  I shut it down, but still can't get the game to launch.  Verified the installation and it says it's installed correctly. 

I just bought it an hour or so ago, but can't even play it... this sucks.

Running Vista 32bit:

Closed Logitech Quick Cam software - demigod still wouldnt launch (minimizes it as soon as it runs)

Closed Skype - demigod launches fine

If you are running any software that uses your cam, not just the cam settings software, close it up

 

edit: to clarify, multiplayer doesn't work for me but the game loads

I don't even have a cam, or any other Logitech stuff.  I don't have Skype either.  I completely shutdown Comodo, disabled it at startup, and rebooted.  Still have the same problem.  It won't launch.

It will not launch while Microsoft Outlook is running either. I had to shut down Logitech Quickcam, Outlook, Skype, and daemontools to get it to run.
