[RIDICULOUS] People farming Favor off of computers

By on February 26, 2009 7:03:23 AM from Demigod Forums Demigod Forums

Is there going to be an effective method to determine whether a player played against computers or not so that we can nix the favor points earned from that match? Right now most of the top ranked players derive their favor from playing against computers. In this case, the pantheon has turned into a computer-killing contest. Rank and favor will mean nothing if they can be gained from computer opponents and used against players. Keep it separate. Perhaps favor gained from computer opponent games should go towards a computer opponent record and a separate ranking page.

Or just ban AI from pantheon games. Otherwise whichever side has more players will have an advantage as they'll be more likely to have a full player controlled team, which means the problem will grow as new players will usually choose to join the more successful side. If you prevent the AI from playing pantheon games, then there will be an adjustment mechanism to give the two sides relatively similar numbers of players, as the one with more will spend more time waiting to find a match.

i figure they are just using bots in the beta so more folks can actualy try it and give feedback  i mean right now the stats dont matter anyway. and with more games played, bots or no, more folks can test them. i kinda soubt theyd considder letting people single player their way to the top of the charts.

You guys take this beta ranking too seriously

I hope you guys do realize we're blowing away all the rankings when the game launches right?

The bots are in there in order to help us beta test the tournament mechanisms. In the final version, each side will require a human player.

You mean you won't be keeping the 68 game losing streak that the Pantheon thinks I'm on?  Well that's a relief

While I think all human vs. all human is the most fun, I like the idea of getting into a 3v3 with one human player on each side.   Adds a bit of randomness to it when you don't know what AI demigods you'll be getting on the map.

Quoting Frogboy,

Also, this.

The ranking system doesn't even record wins and losses correctly (I believe wins/losses correlate to light/dark side games played respectively, not sure).

Yeah I see why the AI is needed in the beta, i was referring to the final game.

i can't get freaking favor points, it says i got them but i dodn't. So my favor items are confined to the 2 i think starting options which is really irritating.
